【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesaprocedurefordeterminingtheenvelope-specificsurfaceareaofpowders,fromwhichiscalculatedanx201C;averagex201D;particlediameter,assumingtheparticlesaremonosize,smoothsurface,nonporous,sphericalparticles.Forthisreason,valuesobtainedbythistestmethodwillbedefinedasaFisherNumber.Thedegreeofcorrelationbetweentheresultsofthistestmethodandthequalityofpowdersinusewillvarywitheachparticularapplicationandhasnotbeenfullydetermined.Thistestmethodisgenerallyapplicabletoallmetalpowdersandrelatedcompounds,includingcarbides,nitrides,andoxides,forparticleshavingdiametersbetween0.5and50x03BC;m.Itshouldnotbeusedforpowderscomposedofparticleswhoseshapeistoofarfromequiaxed,thatis,flakesorfibers.Inthesecases,itispermissibletousethetestmethoddescribedonlybyagreementbetweenthepartiesconcerned.Thistestmethodshallnotbeusedformixturesofdifferentpowdersnorforpowderscontainingbindersorlubricants.Whenthepowdercontainsagglomerates,themeasuredsurfaceareamaybeaffectedbythedegreeofagglomeration.Methodsofde-agglomerationsuchasthatreferencedin1.1maybeusedifagreeduponbetweenthepartiesconcerned.Whenanx201C;averagex201D;particlesizeofpowdersisdeterminedusingtheFishersub-sievesizer,itshouldbeclearlykeptinmindthatthisaveragesizeisderivedfromthedeterminationofthespecificsurfaceareaofthepowderusingarelationshipthatistrueonlyforpowdersofuniformsizeandsphericalshape.1.1Thistestmethodusesairpermeabilitytodetermineanenvelope-specificsurfaceareaanditsassociatedaverageequivalentsphericaldiameter(from0.5to50m)ofmetalpowdersandrelatedcompounds.Thepowdersmaybeanalyzedintheir"as-supplied"(shipped,received,orprocessed)conditionoraftertheyhavebeende-agglomeratedormilledbyalaboratoryprocedure("labmilled")suchasthatspecifiedinPracticeB859.Thevaluesobtainedarenotintendedtobeabsolutebutaregenerallyusefulonarelativebasisforcontrolpurposes.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
